Tests of Divisibility

Tests of Divisibility. 1 - All integers can be divided by 1. 2 - All even numbers can be divided by 2 i.e. those ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, 8. 3 – Add the digits of the number together, if the answer is in the 3 x table then the number is divisible by 3 e.g. 126 1 + 2 + 6 = 9

  1. Tests of Divisibility 1 - All integers can be divided by 1 2 - All even numbers can be divided by 2 i.e. those ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 3 – Add the digits of the number together, if the answer is in the 3 x table then the number is divisible by 3 e.g. 126 1 + 2 + 6 = 9 9 is in the 3 x table so 126 is divisible by 3 4 – the last two digits of the number are divisible by 4 e.g. 4012 the last two digits are 12 which is divisible by 4, so 4012 is divisible by 4 5 - All numbers ending in 0 or 5 6 – An even number divisible by 3 (see test for 3) 8 – the last three digits of the number are divisible by 8 9 – Add the digits of the number together, if the answer is in the 9 x table then the number is divisible by 9
