5. a) Relevance/Contribution to ISLM:
promotes the healthy use of soil, water and air
enhances the biological diversity within the whole ecosystem
increases soil biological activity and maintains long-term soil
fertility
recycles wastes of plant and animal origin in order to return
nutrients to the land, thus minimizing the use of non-renewable
resources
mitigates climate change and helps farmers adapt to climate

22. Ongwediva College of Education: Aquaculture Unit Goal: to enhance capacity of student teachers through practical demonstration in aquaculture on the campus site. Therefore be the center of excellence in promoting the technology to the wider public in the long run.
Location: Ongwediva College of Education: Oshana Region
23. a) Link to ISLM (impact on Land): Aquaculture is a unique land use with minimal land degradation impact while being a potential answer to food security and income generation.
b) Impact to livelihood: Potential to contribute to poverty alleviation, community development, reduction of exploitation of natural resource, immediate source of essential nutrients as much as a source of income.
c) Beneficiaries: Immediate beneficiaries are the student teachers, the learners to be taught afterwards, the general public surrounding the area, and all in the Aquaculture trade.
d) Technical sense & Know-How: Sound
e) Sustainability: Highly sustainable as it is to be managed by the College.
f) Replicability: High

26. Goal: is to significantly contribute towards the livelihoods of residents in Ovitoto. The short term goal is to support livestock farmers to manage their livestock herds and rangeland resources in such a way as to reduce their vulnerability to climatic variation and improve their income from livestock sales.
The objective is to develop a local level monitoring booklet, a rangeland management map, and lessons learned. Hence ultimately, capacity of the local farmers are build while more benefits are foreseen as a consequence of effective rangeland management

31. (AGRAs Professional Services) Determining the grass-based carrying capacity of Namibian rangelands by satellite-derived technology Goal: The overall goal of the project is to enable Namibians to determine the grass-based carrying capacity of their ranch or grazing area from satellite-derived data and to develop the technology to exploit other applications that are not yet operational or even conceived
Hence the Objective is to separate woody from herbaceous plant production using a variety of approaches which will enable Namibians to determine the grass-based carrying capacity of their ranch or grazing area from satellite-derived data and to develop the technology to exploit other applications that are not yet operational or even conceived
Location: Windhoek (data will represent the whole country)
32. Rationale Link to ISLM (impact on Land): It guides producers and land users towards sustainable stocking of animals, enabling them to adjust the number of their animals in time in response to deteriorating or improving conditions, thus minimizing damage to the natural resource, the veld, and improving the sustainability of rangeland management.
Impact on Livelihoods: Improved Rangeland productivity translate to more harvestable from rangeland-based production (e.g. livestock, game and their products). It enables drought-stricken land users in communal, open access areas to identify geographic areas with high production to which they can move their animals, thus improving rural livelihoods and reducing poverty
Beneficiaries: agricultural producers and rangeland users in the whole country
Technical sense and Know-How: working and reliable method based on a widely-acknowledged and well-researched technology but with its own body of public, scientific evidence that can be scrutinised at will. Proposed project team has a wealth of experience and knowledge in the subject mater.
Sustainability: an expert centre in satellite-derived rangeland management information would be set up for continuity
Replicability: The method can be applied country wide and thus benefits are to be enjoyed country wide.
