What is great about having so many options to explore is that you can do it however you want to. Hiking, climbing mountains, taking boat tours, out on jeeps, even riding elephants! There are a lot of tours so you can choose what is least likely to spook the animal you want to catch sight of, be it the royal Bangal tiger, the Indian Spotted Chevrotain, the lion-tailed macaque, the slender loris, the purple heron, painted stork or the Nilgiri langur.

India is one of the best destinations for exploring wildlife and forests and taking one of many fantastic nature tours. With more than 440 wildlife sanctuaries and around 80 national parks, there are not many countries that have so much to offer and nature lovers can enjoy various common and rare species of fauna and flora, including the magnificent royal Bangal tiger. They are also perfect opportunities for photographers, and people who enjoy walking, trekking and having adventures surrounded by amazing scenery.
Home to some amazing creatures - India is home to some amazing wildlife, and also the place where hundreds of species of birds migrate to. It is the last home of the Asiatic Lion, the place where several Tiger sanctuaries are and the royal Bengali tiger can be found, and more recently where the cheetah was reintroduced. An estimated 60% of the world’s tiger population is in India. If you are into something other than cats then it is also home to 50% of the world’s Asian elephants, and 80% of the One-horned Rhinoceros. There are some great national parks to choose from, you could even make it your goal to visit as many of them as you can! Bharatpur, Periyar, Gir, Corbett, Ranthambore, and Kaziranga to name just a few. The Royal Bengali tiger can be found in several places including Corbet where there is also a huge bird population along with a project to protect the Asian Elephant that is endangered. Gir in India is the only place other than Africa where the lion can be found in a natural habitat rather than a zoo. It is where you are the most likely to see the leopard as well. 15 endangered species find sanctuary in Kaziranga one of which is the Great Indian one-horned rhinoceros. You can also see elephants, tigers and wild buffaloes.

Enjoy some other activities - There is a lot to do as well when you head to one of the parks or sanctuaries. Adventure activities like ziplining, kayaking, climbing, paragliding and more. Or something more relaxed like angling. The Ramganga valley is a great spot if you head to Corbett park. There are more than 40 species of fish in the river! Or you might decide to explore one or several of the many trekking trails the parks have to offer all over the country. Head to the east and northern parts of the country of trails in the foothills of the Himalayas. Or the Western Ghats are great in the south.
