Do you need a home first aid kit

Summary<br>A well-stocked home first aid kit or first aid pack is one of those things not everyone thinks of until you first need one. Rather than having your alcohol and cotton balls in the bathroom, your bandages in the kitchen and your antibiotic cream floating around somewhere. 1. There are many great reasons why you should keep a first aid kit for home use. Even in a home without children, you get minor burns, cuts, stings, scrapes and such. Having a first aid kit for such times makes treating them a lot easier. Everything is in one place and as you use up items you can replace them and keep the kit going. Having your supplies in one place rather than scattered around is something you might not think about until the first time you use the kit and then realise how much better it is this way! In a home with children, those minor bumps and cuts happen even more! Looking after children living or visiting the home If you are living with children or have them come visit often you really need to get or create a home first aid kit for them. It is also a very good idea to have a first aid handbook to cover times when you might not be sure of what action to take. It is a sad fact that household accidents lead to thousands of infant deaths each year, and knowing how to act when they are cut, burnt, or something more serious like drowning or choking can make the difference between them surviving such serious accidents.

  2. As children play and grow they fall, scrape themselves and sometimes kit into things they should not. They also get sick. Having sterile wipes, bandages, gauzes, a thermometer, a CPR card and so on is important in order to quickly take care of injuries without having to fumble through multiple places trying to find the right things. Looking after yourself in the home Even if you do not have children there are still things that happen that you need a first aid kit for home so that you can handle it swiftly. Gardening, housework, clumsiness, cooking there are multiple ways you might have an accident in your home. You can’t predict when they will happen but having the right items to clean, and treat them all in one place is important. Every minute someone is experiencing a minor injury somewhere and it is not just seniors losing their balance or their memories. Why suffer for longer than you have to, risk blood dripping somewhere you can’t get it out, risk infection?

You can create your own kit by looking up what items you should have in it, or you can easily find some great kits to buy ready-made. Nothing says you cannot add personal items you need to the kit if you need to.
