Made out of leather, metal, fabric, various types of wood and clay. • Decorated with paints, nails, cowrie shells, colored glass, plant fibers, horns or metal pieces. • Creator must purify him or herself before carving the mask. • Very religious and used for spiritual purposes. • The spirit is believed to possess the dancer when they wear the mask.

  3. Used for rituals and ceremonies. • Date back from the Paleolithic era. • Religious in nature. • Allows connection to the natural world. • Mediators from the living to the dead. • Convey a group of people. • Connect past with present. • Blend Human and animal features.
