  9. Using technology wisely • Introduction to new technology should be appropriate with children’s age and development • There must be a purpose • Children need thorough explanation on the do’s and don’tsin the using new technology. • Children need constant mentor in its usage.

  10. How do we prepare our kids to be alert towards people around them?

  11. 1. Teach children how precious they are • Teach children that their body is really precious: - for them - for us and - for the rest of the family Therefore he/she must take care and protect it carefully.

  12. Teach Children: Don’t forget honey, your body is VERY important. So don’t let strangers touch your body in any way. You understand, don’t you?”

  13. 2. Introduce the difference between:Strangers, acquaintances, friends, best friends, and family STRANGERS: Are people that we don’t know at all. For example: people in the supermarket What kind of information can we give them Can we be too friendly? Can we trust them?

  14. ACQUAINTANCES People whom we know their names, jobs or address. For Example: postman, teacher, etc. Children must be taught to be cautious because they don’t know these acquaintances very well. We know a lot about these people, even their personality. We can play with them and trust them, with limits and boundaries . FRIENDS

  15. BEST FRIENDS More than just friends, we really trust them but there are still solid boundaries, we can’t FULLY trust them for EVERYTHING. Are people who are closely related to us, By blood or marriages Who do we know very well? Still careful. FAMILY

  16. 3.Teach children types of touching • Good/allowed touches • Confusing touches • Bad touches

  17. 4. Teach children to believe in what they feel • Children posses innate sensitivity about feelings and people’s behavior towards them. • We can teach or train children to observe and trust the various feelings they feel in dealing with other people whether it is : • Fun • Confusing • Scary!

  18. 5. NO, I DON’T WANT or DON’T DO THAT!! • Teach children to say NO, I DON’T WANT or DON’T DO THAT!!To adults or older kids. Especially if he thinks he needs to protect himself • Act firm, rude and lying may be needed if children feel that they are threatened.

  19. 6.Assure children that they can trust us with their secrets Many sexual violence and raping are done by persuasion and threats , therefore this, too, needs to be explained to children. We also need to assure our children that as their parents, we are the right place where they can share their secrets.

  20. You can’t do it alone • Work with your spouse in raising and nurture your children TOGETHER • work together with people who is involve in raising your children: Grandparents, maids, family members, even the driver

  21. It takes a village.. • Work together with the school and neighborhood to stay alert, take care and help to protect all children • Work together with the neighborhood: book stores, libraries, etc

  22. 7. Complete it with prayers After all had been said, tried and done, complete our efforts with prayers. May God protects our children from this overlooked disaster. For He is the best protector
