  1. Thesis work: Verification of connection requirements for wind farms A new Grid Code is under development in the EU. Entso-e that is working on the new requirements has announced that only small changes of the current draft are to expect. The new Grid Code will result in stricter requirements for connection of generators to the grids in Sweden and the northern countries. The new requirements will contribute to higher investment costs regarding devices and power plants, but also more comprehensive analysis and tests have to be done, to verify that the power plant is fulfilling the new requirements. In this thesis work, the aim is to estimate how much the investment costs will increase and to describe how necessary tests and calculations should be done in practice, to verify and fulfill the new requirements in Sweden and the northern countries. The study will be very useful for both grid owners who will make the demands on the connection point, and for the power plant owners who are responsible for that the requirements are fulfilled and due to that, have to make demands on the manufactures. The thesis work will include - comparing new and old requirements, describing the need of new devices, describing the possible need of a more robust system and developing a proposal on how the tests and calculations have to be done. The study can also occur measurements and tests in power plants, calculations and estimates on how much this will increase the costs, due to the new requirements. In the study will one or maybe two already existing wind farms be used as reference plants. Project start planned to August- September 2013 Implementation Activities • Study of literature concerning current SvK requirements, new EU requirements, ASP (Association of larger production facilities) and any previous studies on the connection requirements. • Create a checklist with actions for verification of a new wind farm according to requirements. International requirements, requirements as may be decided by Swedish authorities, the requirements which may be included as a certification from the manufacturer and the requirements described in ASP that are not included in the EU requirements. • Develop “Study Outlines” with descriptions of necessary input data, models and methods regarding calculations and analysis. • Develop a test plan for necessary verifying and validating of measurements describing how these tests should be done in practice. • Perform measurements and tests according to test plan on an existing power plant. • Perform calculations for verification of the new requirements on an existing power plant. • Describe possible need of a more robust power plant and extra control equipment. • Estimate the increasing investment costs for new power plants regarding the new requirements. • Compile the results in a report, written in English, which can be used in Nordisk Vindkrafts and Midrocs future projects.
