  1. Main TBM Projects in Spain

  2. MAIN TBMPROJECTS IN SPAIN Abdalajis Tunnels (9 Km) 2 TBMs Pajares Tunnels (25 Km) 5 TBMs Tunnel del Perthus (8 Km) San Pedro Tunnels (8 Km) 2 TBMs Guadarrama Tunnels (29 Km) 4 TBMs Line 9 (Barcelona Metro) 3 TBMs MINOVA HAD DONE ITS MAIN INJECTION WORKS IN THESE PROJECTS AND IN MORE THAN 70 TUNNELS.

  3. ABDALAJIS TUNNELS (MÁLAGA) • Lenght = 9 Km • Drilled by 2 TBMs double shield. • The geology was clays bitominous, calcite, sandstones...sedimentary rocks • They had a lot of problems with fails, no competent ground, methane, cavities, high water ingress. • It was the main project in Minova • Consume of Geofoam = 1.200 T Sacyr TBM+ 1.040 T Dragados TBM • Consume of Geoflex =183 T in both TBMs

  4. PAJARES TUNNELS (LEÓN-ASTURIAS)

  5. PAJARES TUNNELS (LEÓN-ASTURIAS) • Total Length = 25 Km • Drilled by 5 TBMs. 1 Double Shield (Lote 2) and 4 simple close shield. • The geology is very variable: calcite, quartzstones, sandstones, clays, coal... with a lot of fails. • The main problems are fails, karsts in calcites, quartz fracturated with a lot of water, very soft clays and cavities. • Consume of Geofoam at the moment. • Lote 1 = 250 T • Lote 2 = 300 T • Lote 3 = 1.030 T • Lote 4 = 720 T

  6. TUNNEL DEL PERTHUS (La Jonquera, border Spain-France) • Total Length = 7 Km • Drilled by 2 TBMs. 1 Double Shield • The geology is very variable: granite, quartzstones, sandstones, clays, with a lot of fails. • The main problems are fails, very soft clays and cavities karsts in calcites, quartz fracturated with a lot of water. • Consume of Geofoam. • 1.166 T

  7. SAN PEDRO TUNNELS (MADRID) Length = 8 Km Drilled by 2 open shield TBMsat the beginning. The other side is drilled by blasting methods. One TBM was atrapped and they have finished the drilling it by blasting method. Just one TBM could drill all the 8 Km. The geology are mainly plutonic and filonianic rocks but they are very meteorizated and have a lot of fails The main problems are fails and soft grounds. Not very much water ingress Consume of Geofoam = 969 T Consume of Geoflex = 63 T

  8. GUADARRAMA TUNNELS (MADRID-SEGOVIA) Lenght = 29,5 Km Drilled by 4 TBMs with double shield, 2 in each side of the tunnels. The geology was mainly granite and plutonic rocks They had a lot of problems with fails Consume of Geofoam = 262 T. Consume of Geoflex = 6 T.

  9. LINE 9 (Barcelona Metro) Length = 8 Km Drilled by 3 TBMs. 1 Mix (NFM)and 2 simple close shield. The geology is mainly granite, granite meteorizated, sands, clays... The main problems are fails, cavities, meteorizated granite very soft, sands with high freatic level and thermal water. Consume of Geofoam = 471 T Consume of Geoflex = 63 T
