ENVI391/491 Environmental Science and Systems (15) • Aim: To extend learning outcomes of existing assignment to include awareness of industry specific professional skills, and to reflect on where and how these were developed over the course of study at UoW. • Tools • Blackboard Portfolio for Vista • Word document for project report

  5. MACS337 Hollywood in Context (108) • Aim: To discuss professional skills and career development for students who are undertaking a broad degree with many possible career pathways. • Tools • Blackboard Portfolio for Vista

  7. ARTS301 Arts Internship (25) • Aim: Bring together and integrate numerous career development tasks and outputs relating to work-placement project via ePortfolio. • Tools • Blackboard Portfolio and Word options offered

  8. GHMB950 Reflective Practice (20) • Aim: As a requirement of ongoing professional development health professionals need to provide portfolio evidence. The aim of including the ePortfolio tool in GHMB 950 was to assist the health professional students in the organisation and management of their professional portfolio resources. It was also anticipated that the ePortfolio would assist the students by providing innovative options for developing reflective resources. • Tools • Blackboard Portfolio for Vista

  10. GSM Graduate School of Medicine (80) • Aim: Bring together and integrate numerous skill development tasks and outputs for the purposes of monitoring student progress and accreditation. • Tools • Clinical Log tool • Journal tool in Blackboard Portfolio for Vista

  11. Careers Service Programs (300) • Aim: Studentsopt in to the program on top of their course of study, to gain more experience on the CV, get a (better!) job • Tools • Files on memory stick • Structured Word documents • Blackboard Portfolio for Vista, esp journal

Faculty of Education (400) • Aim: Bring together and integrate numerous skill development tasks and assignments for the purposes of students monitoring and reflecting on their progress, gathering evidence towards professional accreditation by New South Wales Institute of Teachers (NSWIT) upon graduation. • Tools • In-house built specialist ePortfolio tool

Staff ePortfolio (10) • Aim: Provide staff with opportunities to develop a career portfolio, gathering evidence and reflecting on the full spectrum of academic work (teaching, research, governance, professional activity) for personal career goals and academic development • Tools • Excel spreadsheet • iWebfolio

Certificate in Global Workplace Practice • 2008, Careers Service new program • 250 students opted in • International students, priority areas • ePortfolio helps to prepare for major tasks • Prepare skills-based job application • Mock job interview (videoed for feedback) • Tools • Structured Word document template

Legal Practicum • New eLearning Space to support program • Information for all undergraduates • Application forms specific to each cohort • New practicum contracts • Sample/advice on preparing better CVs • ePortfolio template based on Careers CGWP to replace paper-based practicum journal • Hard to mark “unstructured ramblings” • Students submit to co-ordinator via email after prac, could be any time

  17. Plans for 2008 • Review, further evaluations, report to FEC • Extend to more subjects/courses • Work in with Graduate Qualities mapping • Map/plan ePortfolio tasks across course • Trial Pebblepad (specialist tool) • Establish working party of eLTS to continue work • More ‘show and tells’?
