  3. Projects and Endeavors in Logan County This event was organized by the Logan Co. Diabetes Coalition. It provided an opportunity for various health related groups working in the county to collaborate and offer a wide range of health screening and information to participants. It was also the springboard for our coalition’s first initiative in 2013, “100 miles in 100 days”. Subsequent events developed out of this event such as community walks and a “Scavenger Hunt for Health”. Also if you are looking for a new venue to distribute diabetes and health information, and raise awareness about your coalition, then consider a nontraditional community event such as the one we did at the Logan County Hunting and Fishing Show.

  4. Projects (continued) Our 100 miles in 100 days was a success with more than 40 participants beginning the program. 20 participants completed the program and one winner was randomly chosen to receive a year membership to the local rec. center.

  5. Projects (continued) The LCDC was a resource participant in the annual Chief Logan Hunting & Fishing Expo. Blood pressure and blood sugar levels were checked by volunteers. A wealth of info was also available to attendees of the expo.

  6. Future Projects and Ideas “Healthy Logan”

  7. Name Change Healthy Logan County • This name is being floated as a possible replacement to the Logan County Diabetes Coalition.

  8. Advertising at High School Sporting Events The LCDC is sponsoring a canopy for a local high school. It will be used at football games and will have our sponsorship clearly marked. With this small donation, the school will announce PSAs over the PA system and recognize the LCDC at every home football game. This will spread our message to thousands of people throughout football season.

  9. The LCDC received a $500 dollar grant from WSAZ Children’s Charities. A local girls softball team (ages 9-12) was in need of equipment. We purchased the equipment they needed and in return our signage was placed at their venue and healthy choices were then served from their concession stand.

  10. Sodabriety Campaign Two local schools have agreed to take part in this campaign. They will have the school children make a pledge to dump soda and sugary drinks in favor of water or healthy drinks.

  11. We hope you enjoyed this presentation Hopefully we have given you some ideas that you can take back to your communities.
