  2. Time Period 776 BC -The First Olympic Games. About 750 BC-Homer writes the epic ‘The Iliad’ and the ‘Odyssey’. 508 BC-Democracy begins in Athens. 450 BC-Athens becomes a very powerful city and controls empire. 432 BC-The Parthenon in Athens is finished being built.

  3. Food For food in Ancient Greece are : cheese, bread, fish, sea food,and homemade wine.

  4. Rulers/Leaders The leaders of Ancient Greece are: Alexander the Great, Cleisthenes, Leanidas, Persicles, Solon, Themistocles.

  5. Travel /Transportation Ancient Greece people used ships,and chariots for travel.

  6. Money A merchant usually only took coins from their own city. Athens used currency known as a drachma.

  7. Clothing Greek men wore a tunic,and a sort of knee-length T-shirt. Greek woman wore one long piece of wool,linen,wrapped around them.

  8. Housing/Buildings Many Ancient Greece people settled in valleys near the sea. They lived in small villages.

  9. Government Founders of Democracy! Pericles was the leader for thirty years. He was not a monarch or despot. Slaves were captured prisoners of war,back the old days.

  10. Extra In Athens warships were captained by wealthy citizens,who served as captain for the year.
