We will use Microsoft Access 2007 in the Labs Many of you have used Access before – we will probably use it differently We will be using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) together with MS-Access If you have not used Access tell me. Access
You will need to work on Access after lessons: It is available on nearly all University PCs You may have Access on your own PC We are currently using Access 2007. Working at home is fine as long as the version of ACCESS you have installed is compatible. Access continued
70% of the module marks come from coursework Assignments and vivas with your tutor throughout the year – you must submit work on time and be present for the vivas. Database Development Project in the second term Module schedule gives dates when assignments are handed out and when they are due in There are severe penalties for late work and copying. Assessment
30% of the module marks come from the exam (in May) You need 40% on the module to pass You must pass to get into the 2nd year It is easiest to pass if you come to all your classes and complete the work (yourself). Assessment continued

This module is supported on the University VLE, which is called Blackboard Everyone is registered on Blackboard when they enrol at DMU. Identify your tutorials and labs Go to the library and find the database books Get your password and user id before your lab session If you have not used Access before tell your tutor in your first lab session After your lab, finish setting up the Phones database. Tasks for this week
You have to pass this module before you can go into year 2 You get one attempt at each assessment during the year If you do not attend a viva or do not hand in an assignment without good reason you get 0% for it The module Resit is in August by exam only (no coursework) It is easiest to complete the module first time through by attending lessons and doing the work on time.
