  2. Expectations • This week’s assignment and rubric • Dissecting a Song • Discussion questions see reminders. • Don’t forget about the resources that are available. Also I have included samples of work that my former students created.  • If you have any questions regarding the assignment or work for this module please feel free to contact me.

  3. Assignment You will be dissecting a song looking for the poetry elements we have been discussing. You will create a PowerPoint Presentation with at least eight slides. The presentation must include the following items: Title Slide will contain the title of your song and your heading. Image Slide will contain an image and explanation as to why you chose this song. Last 6 Slideswill contain examples of at least six poetry elements. You choose the six poetry elements. Back

  5. Onomatopoeia and Alliteration Onomatopoeia Alliteration Alliteration is the repetition of consonant sounds at the beginning of two or more nearby words, as in apt alliteration's artful aid. • Onomatopoeia is the use of words whose sounds echo their meaning, as cuckoo or boom. Back

  10. Hyperbole and Rhyme Scheme Hyperbole Rhyme Scheme Rhyme scheme is the pattern of rhymes used in a poem, usually marked by letters to symbolize correspondences, as rhyme royal, ababbcc. • Hyperbole is an overstatement used to emphasize a point, as “to wait an eternity.” Back

  12. Discussion Questions DQ 1 (Due Tuesday): Locate a poem on www.famouspoetsandpoems.com and describe what the poem is about. Discuss the types of poetry elements used and identify what type of poem it is. Be sure to share a link to your poem. DQ 2 (Due Thursday): Which poetry elements do you like the most? Choose at least three and give examples of the elements. When responding to others come up with another example for their elements. Expectations
