  1. Types of Triangles 11th grade geometry

  2. Types of Triangles - defined Classified by angles: • Acute triangle – has three acute angles. • Right triangle – has one right angle. • Obtuse triangle – has one obtuse angle. Classified by sides: • Scalene triangle – has no congruent sides. • Isosceles triangle – has two congruent sides. • Equilateral triangle – has three congruent sides.

  3. Types of Triangles – comparison

  4. Acute Triangles…. • have three acute angles. • are scalene if all the acute angles are different. • are isosceles if two of the acute angles are equal. • is equilateral if all of the acute angles are equal. • that are equilateral have three 600 angles.

  5. Right Triangles… • have one right angle and two acute angles. • are scalene if all of the angles are different. • are isosceles if two of the sides are congruent. • that are isosceles have two 450 angles.

  6. Obtuse Triangles… • have one obtuse angle and two acute angles. • are scalene if all of the angles are different. • are isosceles if two of the angles are the same.

  7. Scalene Triangles… • Have no congruent sides and no congruent angles. • Can be right if they have a right angle.

  8. Isosceles Triangles… • have two congruent sides and two congruent angles. • that are right have a 900 angle and two 450 degree angles.

  9. Equilateral Triangles… • have three equal sides. • are always acute triangles. • have three equal acute angles. • have three 600 angles.
