2. Introduction • The purpose of this presentation is to outline the plan of work for defining an approach for how SOA and HL7 V3 should fit together. • For background details on the proposal, please consult the decks “SOA and HL7 Overview” and “SOA and HL7 – Full”

3. Tasks • The main tasks are listed below: • Define objectives, principles and approach • Define Requirements • Analyze HL7 V3 MCCI (Wrappers, Control Query Infrastructure etc). Re-cast as requirements • Define requirements to achieve SOA benefits • Define Conceptual SOA Approach that meets requirements and adheres to principles • Define Methodology/(-ies) for identifying and defining services • Based on HL7 V3 artifacts • Based on top-down business process and mapping to V3 artifacts • HSSP • Consider and define conformance approach (consider profiling) • Define Physical Solution(s) • Define WS-* stack implementation of conceptual view • Define approach to XML Schema definition • Map solution to current HL7 V3 infrastructure for transformation purposes

4. Working Groups • Task 1 is the kick-off and should involve all participants • Tasks 2 through 6 above would best be separated into 4 mini-workgroups: • MCCI: Tasks 2 and 6 – Requires detailed MCCI knowledge and SOA understanding. • SOA: Tasks 3 and 5a – Requires detailed SOA knowledge and some MCCI knowledge. • XML: Task 5b – Requires detailed knowledge of XML and current XML ITS. • Methodology: Tasks 4 – Requires Knowledge of HDF and SOA
