Steps of implementation • June 1995: The Europe Agreement signed between Lithuania and the EU (came into force 1 February 1998) – duty to seek the conformity between the national legislation (incl. environmental sector) and the acquis communautaire • November 2000: Agreement between the European Community and the Republic of Lithuania concerning the Republic of Lithuania's participation in the European Environment Agency and the European Environment Information and Observation Network (came into force 1 January 2002) – duty to provide necessary environmental data and information to EIONET • 2003-2004: draft of the Environmental Information Management Programme – draft document, providing strategy, action plan, time schedule and delegating responsibilities among institutions in the environmental sector to meet national and international requirements on reporting

Steps of implementation • July 2003: Order of the Minister of Environment on the Cooperation with European Environment Agency (amendment in 2006) • 7 April 2004: Resolution No. 388 of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania “On the Approval of Procedure for the Submission of Reports to European Commission Related to the Implementation of the European Union Environmental Sector Legislation and on the Supply of Information Necessary for the Drafting of Reports to the European Environmental Agency" (came into force 1 May 2004, amendments 2005, 2006) – submissionprocedure and responsibilities among national institutions in environmental information flows described • 1 May 2004: Lithuania became an EU Member State

Resolution No. 388 of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania “On the Approval of Procedure for the Submission of Reports to European Commission Related to the Implementation of the European Union Environmental Sector Legislation and on the Supply of Information Necessary for the Drafting of Reports to the European Environmental Agency"
