  2. To Design and Make a Key / Fob Light The Key Fob / Light is a familiar project in many schools in year 8 and is an ideal starting project. It is best to give the pupils an early experience using resistant materials i.e., acrylic and rigid polystyrene in this example rather than use the kit from Rapid Electronics which uses foam. The design element is restrictive given the limitations of overall size. It is most important to carefully guide pupils through their first experience of the design process. Success for the pupil is vital to stimulate motivation and build upon self esteem. Constraints such as shape/s and size of the material to work from will be an important considerations along with the manufacturing process involved.
