A bit of background… Anne Elliot and Frederick Wentworth met the summer of 1806. They were young and extremely in love, so expectantly Wentworth asked Anne to marry him, but because of his lack of social status and financial incapabilities, her father objected, resulting in Anne turning Frederick’s marriage proposal down.
