The Border- • Oklahoma is bordered • Colorado and Kansas on the north. • On the south, Oklahoma is bordered by Texas. • On the east, Oklahoma is bordered by Missouri and Arkansas and • On the west, Oklahoma is bordered by New Mexico and Texas. • Major Rivers-Arkansas, Canadian, and Red River. • Major Lakes-Texoma, Eufaula, Hudson, O' the Cherokees, Gibson, Oologah, and Keystone Lake. • Descripition of Land-Oklahoma is a land of flat, fertile plains and low hills. • Climate-Average yearly precipitation for Oklahoma, from 1971 to 2000, is shown on this chart from Oregon State University.   6. The Oklahoma state flag honors more than 60 groups of Native Americans and their ancestors. The blue field comes from a flag carried by Choctaw soldiers during the civil war. The center shield is the battle shield of an Osage warrior. It is made of buffalo hide and decorated with eagle feathers. Two symbols of peace lie across the shield. One is the calumet, or peace pipe. The other is an olive branch. Crosses on the shield are Native American signs for stars, representing high ideals. State Flag
