  1. Liquid -Based Combat Armor • Light and flexible body armor . • Hardens instantly and reversibly, allowing thinner, lighter more flexible armor. • Based on liquids that behave like a solid in especial conditions: • Shear-thickening fluid • Magnetorheological fluid

  2. Shear Thickening fluid (STF) • Hardens instantly • Behaves like a solid when encounters mechanical stress. • Formed of silica particles suspended in polyethylene glycol. Forming a Colloid

  3. The energy of a sudden impact stick together the particles forming Hydroclusters. • Four layers of STF-Treated Kevlar can dissipate the same amount of energy as 14 of neat Kevlar. • Requires no electricity.
