  2. Memorandums are written messages used by individuals within a company to communicate with one another. MEMO is short for Memorandums

  3. Memos have often been described as “stripped down” letters because they omit certain letter parts.

  4. Memos may be formatted in two styles: • Simplified • Standard * Both formats use the same margins.

  5. Simplified Format • Begin all lines at the left margin • Quadruple-space (QS) between the date and the receiver’s name and between the message (body) and the writer’s name. • Double-space (DS) between all other parts.

  6. Begin all lines including headings at the left margin. Notice where All Caps are located TO: Tab Twice to key name. FROM: Tab once to key name. DATE: Tab once to key date. SUBJECT: Tab once to key subject. (DS) between all memo parts Standard Format

  7. At the end of the memo:When you see (xx), you need to type your initials.And if you do not see (xx) you still type your initials because you were the typist of the document

Example of typed Memo TO: IBA Students FROM: Your Teacher DATE: September 16, 2013 SUBJECT: Instructions to type a Memo If you type a memo please make sure that it looks like this example, which is a Standard Format for a Memo. Your line spacing between each paragraph should only be two spaces so hit your return once, if you have your line space set to 2”. vjf

  9. Type: • Memo 1 • Memo 2 • Memo 3 • Memo 4 • Memo 5 ALL WORK WILL BE SAVED!!!!
