Magnet at Lockhart Re: Odyssey of the Mind September 27, 2010 Dear Parents of 5th & 6th Graders, Students are about to embark upon one of the most exciting events they will experience in Magnet~ The Odyssey of the Mind. In order to empower our students with all of the tools they will require for this endeavor, I would like to meet with you all. There will be a brief meeting Thursday, October 7th in my room (#18) to discuss Odyssey of the Mind which is “an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program.” The meeting will start at 8:00am and run for about 30 minutes. In addition to discussing the program and the ways that parents can support their children, we will discuss the timeline of events and important dates.
