  2. Introduction Student Page [Teacher Page] The Atlantic Slave Trade began with the settlement of the New World and continued into the 19th Century. You are members of a magazine staff producing an edition memorializing the victims of the slave trade. The question you are trying to answer is, “What was life like for African slaves during the Middle Passage and in the New World?” Title Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion Credits

  3. The Task Student Page [Teacher Page] You will produce an article for the memorial edition of our magazine. Each group will be responsible for an article on each topic, as well as good use of pictures and charts to demonstrate their ideas. Each groups section will use Microsoft Publisher to create the finished product if available. Otherwise, use Word. Topics to be covered: -Role of Africans and Europeans in the Slave Trade: Make a list of little known facts about African and European involvement in the slave trade. -Economics and Demographics of the Slave Trade: Explain why, economically, the Atlantic slave trade happened. Why was it profitable? Include charts of the destinations and origins of slaves. -Conditions during the Middle Passage: This group will be responsible for producing an article as well as providing visual representations for the magazine, including captions. It should depict the conditions of the slaves on the ships during their journey to the New World. How were they treated? Mortality rates? -Life on the Plantation: This group should also write an article about this topic; include daily life, slave culture, and health issues faced by slaves.
