What is TEL? • Technology Enhanced Learning! • TEL is becoming used more extensively throughout the educational world (Howell.J P.?) • It is the integration of technology in education(University of California) • It is the future of learning (Howell.J p.?) • Its built on constructionist approach to learning where children develop their ideas (Triptel, 2012) • Commonly done in group work and it’s a new exciting and innovative way to learning and teaching(Triptel, 2012)

Why TEL? • More collaboration between students and teachers • The development of technology in the 21st century around the world (Howell.J P.?) • Allows students to have responsible and active enhanced learning rather than conventional learning (Triptel, 2012) • Eliminates the "experts" teaching approach its exciting and innovative (Howell.JP.?) • It’s exciting and innovative • Easy accessible information and resources (Mrflickinger, 2010) • Global socialization Howell.J P.?) • Development of e-maturity

Advantages of TEL… • Enhanced learning • Collaborative learning • Enhances e-maturity • Reduces the “expert” style of teaching • Readily available resources resources (Mrflickinger, 2010) • New and innovative ways of learning • Interactive learning(Triptel, 2012) • Access is easy and most if the time quick.

Disadvantages of TEL… • Loss of skill: verbal communication skills and interactive abilities between students and teachers, and student and peers • Socio-economic status of some people does not allow them to have their own computer which is creating a gap were educators have to fill • Not enough technology in a classroom for each student • The digital pedagogy of teachers may be behind of the knowledge of their students • Can be over whelming for teachers who are not used to technology
