  2. A group of local, state and national entities who have joined forces to build the truly integrated 21st century health system required for the US to become the healthiest nation in the world. What is the Healthiest Nation Alliance?

Our Purpose To serve a central role in the emergence of an integrated national system in which: Health is a national value All elements of the system work together to optimize population health outcomes Prevention is prioritized People and communities are protected from emerging threats Health care is provided for all Our Role To capitalize on the unique role of governmental public health as a "connector", in order to leverage existing relationships in a unified effort to create a new health system Connecting the pieces…

Bring Health Home America (takes the lead in engaging consumers in the system) Some of the efforts we’d like to connect with… Broad national “system-oriented” efforts Healthier America Project (takes the lead in broadly defining the system) Healthiest Nation Alliance (takes the lead in designing the system and connecting the component parts) Local and regional “system-oriented” efforts Efforts targeting specific system elements The Champlain Initiative Washington Health Foundation Healthiest State Campaign for Public Health (funding) Partnership for Prevention (prevention) Research!America (research) Healthy People 2010 (defining outcomes)

  5. VALUE AND EQUITY: Create an equitable system that is health oriented, not sickness oriented, based on prevention, promotion and protection. ACCOUNTABILITY AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: Create a system that measures and improves outcomes, is focused on continuous improvement and is accountable, transparent and user-friendly (customer focused) ALIGNMENT AND COLLABORATION: Improve the public health system by building new strategic alliances and focusing more resources on what’s making people sick and killing them. FUNDAMENTAL LONG TERM CHANGE: Change policy, legal and investment decisions, by all players, to accomplish the above. What are our goals?
