  2. If the student is absent for any reason, please send a note the following day. Si el/la estudiante esta ausente por cualquier razon porfavor mande una nota el dia siguiente. Let’s Discuss AttendanceHablemos de la assistencia • Be on time – Breakfast begins at 7:15 am. School begins at 8:00 am.Estar a tiempo – El desayuno comienza a las 7:15 am. La escuela comienza a las 8:00 am. • Students are dismissed at 2:19 pm daily; Tuesdays’ dismissal is at 1:19 pm. Los estudiantes salen a las 2:19 pm. diariamente; Los Martes salen a la 1:19 pm.

  3. Sandals, open toe shoes, slip-ons, backless shoes are inappropriate for playing and should not be worn to school. Sandalias, y zapatos de dedos abierto o sin talon son inapropiados para jugar y no deben ser traidos a la escuela. • Tennis shoes should be worn, especially on Thursdays. Homework PolicyReglamentos de la Tarea • Homework is assigned everyday!La tarea es asignada todos los dias! • The assigned homework is to be completed before coming to school on the due date.La tarea asignada tiene que estar completa antes de venir a la escuela el dia que tiene que entregarla. • The homework is to be completed by the student in my class!La tarea tiene que ser terminada por el/la estudiante en mi clase! • Here is a list of websites that can assist your student with homework assignments.Aqui hay una lista de paginas de internet que le pueden ayudar a completar las tareas.

  6. Emergency ProceduresProcedimientos de Emergencia • It is VERY important that your child’s emergency card has more than one telephone number (must have 3 additional). Es MUY importante que la tarjeta de emergencia de su hijo/a tenga mas de un numero de telefono (debe tener 3 mas). • It is also important to keep the information on the emergency card current and to notify the school of any changes. Es tambien importante mantener la informacion de la tarjeta de emergencia al dia, y notificar a la escuela de cualquier cambio.

  7. The Tests this YearLos Examenes de este Año • Open Court unit tests take place every 5 to 7 weeks to check students’ understanding of the unit studied. Los examenes de Open Court se llevaran acabo cada 5 a 7 semanas para ver el entendimiento de los estudiantes sobre la unidad estudiada. • Math Quarter tests take place every 2 to 4 months. Los examenes de matematicas por quartos se llevan acabo cada 2 a 4 meses. • Science tests take place three times during the school year. Los examenes de ciencias toman lugar tres veces durante el año escolar. • State mandated test begin in mid-May. Los examenes mandados por el estado comiensan a la mitad del mes de Mayo.

Books we use in our classLibros que usamos en clase • SRA - Open Court Reading for language arts (reading, writing, grammar, etc.) SRA - Open Court Reading para lenguaje, lectura, escritura, gramatica, etc. • For mathematics we use Scott Foresman – California Mathematics. Para matematicas usamos Scott Forseman – California Mathematics. • For English Language Development we use Into English! by Hampton-Brown. Para el desarrollo del Ingles usamos Into English! de Hampton Brown.

  9. Books we use continued…Libros que usamos, continua… • For science we use Harcourt Science. Para ciencias usamos Harcourt Science. • For social studies we use Harcourt Brace California. Para estudios sociales usamos Harcourt Brace California. • For Health we use MacMillian/McGraw Hill Health & Wellness, Second Step by Committee for Children, and Too Good for Drugs by the Mendez Foundation. Para estudios de salud usamos MacMillian/ McGraw Hill Health & Wellness, Segundo Paso por Comite para niños, y Too Good For Drugs por la Fundacion Mendez.

Our Daily ScheduleNuestro Horario Diario • 8:00 am to 8:30 am.= Daily opening procedures Procedimientos de apertura • 8:30 am - 9:50 am.= Mathematics Matematicas • 9:50 am.-10:10 am.= Recess Recreo • 10:10 am – 11:40 am.= SRA Open Court Reading. SRA- Open Court Reading. • 11:40 am –12:20 pm= Lunch. Lonche

  11. 1:40 pm – 2:10 pm= Social Studies/Music/Art Estudios Sociales/Musica/Arte Our Schedule continued…Nuestro Horario continua… • 12:20 pm - 12:30 pm= Silent reading. Lectura en silencio. • 12:30 pm-1:10 pm= English Language Development. Desarollo del Idioma del Ingles. • 1:10 pm – 1:40 pm= Science. Ciencias • 2:10 pm- 2:19 pm= Clean-up, distribute & explain homework, and make final announcements. Acomodar todo, distribuir y explicar la tarea, y hacer anuncios finales.

  12. You can help at homeUsted puede ayudar en casa • Make sure your child reads out loud EVERYDAY. Asegurese que su hijo/a lea TODOS LOS DIAS. • Read to and with your child regularly.Leale a y con su hijo/a con regularidad. • Provide your child with a place to do homework everyday.Proveale un lugar donde su hijo/a haga la tarea todos los dias. • Go over the homework with your child.Repase la tarea con su hijo/a. • Have your child practice the vocabulary.Haga que su hijo/a practique el vocabulario.

(818)769-3130 Puede llamar a la escuela para hacer una cita, dejeme un mensaje. • Send a note with your child with a contact phone number. Mande una nota con su hijo/a con un numero de contacto. • Come to school before 7:50 am. Venga a la escuela antes de las 7:50 am.
