  2. According to the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), almost 90% of seniors want to remain at home as they age. On the following pages, let’s explore aging in place, and the options available to seniors.

  3. 42% of seniors would rather live in their home with their rules than move somewhere else. People want to live in the manner they have become accustomed to, no matter their age. However, this is especially true for seniors. No one wants to feel like they can’t make their own decisions.

  4. 65% would rather make their own home more SAFE and ACCESSIBLE than go elsewhere. The following are the top 5 features that most seniors feel they need to live independently. • Safety Features (e.g., non-slip floors) • Bathroom Rails • Alert Systems for Emergencies • A Stair-less Entrance • Wider Doorways

  5. “Even if I need day-to-day assistance I want to be under my own roof,” answered 82% in an AARP survey. If day-to-day activities require some assistance because of reduced eyesight or flexibility, seniors overwhelmingly still want to remain independent.
