  1. September 16, 2013 • Dear Students and Families, • WELCOME TO 6th GRADE! Mr. Whitebread and Ms. Streed are so excited to begin this school year • of hard work, learning, and growth! Through classroom instruction as well as the Citizens School program, we know this year will inspire lots of creative and thought provoking ideas delving deeper into instruction through the new Common Core State Standards. • We have high expectation for out students and I know that with your help and student’s hard work that all our goals for your child will be achieved. Through our studies of through balanced literacy, ancient cultures, writers’ workshop, inquiry-based science investigations, and real world based problem solving math explorations, 6th grade (especially in combination with Citizens School has unlimited learning experiences and we hope to help your child as a whole person, growing more than just academically. • Classroom and School Rules: • Be Safe • -keep your hands and belongings to yourself • Be Respectful • -treat others as you would like to be treated • Be Responsible • -always try your best and be prepared Positives can earn: Red Free Dress Passes Chavez Checks Knowledge!!! Consequences for breaking these rules are: Warning One-on-one check in with the teacher Visit to buddy teacher and call/send note home Office referral and parent conference In order to help your child, please be sure that your child arrives to class in UNIFORM by 8:25 am and attends Citizens School everyday. They also must bring their homework EVERYDAY and please monitor your child’s homework to ensure that is NEAT and COMPLETE. We expect students to work extremely hard because we know they are capable. Please encourage them to ask for help as needed and in case of any confusion they or you may have. Lastly, we invite you to call or stop by rooms 23 and 24 anytime you wish. We are here to help best educate your child in any way possible so please do not hesitate to ask. Below we have included out contact information.
