  2. The organization I chose is the Delta Delta Delta sorority at the University of Toledo. Tri Delta has been on UT’s campus since 1944 and currently has 70 active members. I chose to do my project on Tri Delta because I have been a member of the chapter since 2004 and I want people to know more about what we do. The three areas I’ve chosen to cover are the new member period, traditions, and sisterhood. My target audience is female students at the University of Toledo between the ages of 18 – 20. This is my target audience because that is the group that our chapter wants to target to join. Ages 18 – 20 are the ages that we would like the girls to be when they join so they can have at least two full years in the chapter. After learning more about my organization, I would like my target audience to want to join Delta Delta Delta.

  3. After Tri Delta extends bids to girls, the chapter holds a Bid Day to celebrate the additions to the chapter. During Bid Day, the new members sign their bids then go to the Tri Delta house for a Bid Day celebration. New Member Period

  4. New Member Period Every semester, the new pledge class paints the University of Toledo’s spirit rock in the flatlands. It is always a competition between the Greek community whose spray paint won’t get painted over before the weekend is over.

  5. During Delta Week – which is the week before initiation - the new pledge class has a scavenger hunt. The girls are split into teams and try to see which team can do everything on the list the fastest. New Member Period

  6. Finally, at the end of their pledge period, the new girls are initiated into the chapter and become official members of Tri Delta! After initiation, all the new members get their own Tri Delta bag! New Member Period

  7. Each month, the chapter traditionally holds an event called “Delta’s Only” where they do something as a chapter. This month, they all decided to go on an ice skating trip because most of the girls had not been in years. Only a few of the girls fell, so all in all, it was a good time! Traditions

  8. One of the best traditions Tri Delta has is their philanthropic contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Each year, the chapter holds a Pancake Breakfast. The chapter cooks pancakes, sausage and bacon from 10:00 pm until 2:00 am to help raise money. As a national organization, Tri Delta has raised $1.3 million in three years for St. Jude! Traditions

  9. Big/Little week is one of the most fun traditions in Tri Delta. All week, the new girls come to the house to pick up clues as to which active will be her Big Sister. A Big Sister helps guide the girl through her new member process. At the end of the week there’s a revelation ceremony. This year the theme was a Birthday Party! Traditions

  10. One of the longest standing traditions is for the girls to get together to go on spring break. This year, twenty of the girls got together and traveled to South Padre Island Texas for a week of fun , relaxation, and sun! Traditions

  11. Sisterhood One of the greatest things about Tri Delta sisterhood is the bond you form with your pledge class. Everyone in your pledge class will be the only girls who will be with you from when you’re a new member until the time you go alum. Each pledge class has a unique sense of sisterhood and a unique connection that sets your class apart from the rest of the chapter.

  12. Another special bond of sisterhood in Tri Delta is the families. After the new member gets a Big Sister, she becomes part of a “family”. Tri Delta families is an added support system to help members through their college years. Sisterhood

  13. One of the ways Tri Delta keeps their sisterhood strong is to have game nights. Normally, they’ll stay at the house to play Catch Phrase or Apples to Apples, but occasionally they’ll go out for a night of bowling together! Sisterhood

  14. One of the best ways to grow closer and make our sisterhood stronger is to unwind together after a long week of studies. One of the Tri Delta’s favorite ways to unwind is to go out dancing together; just the girls! Sisterhood
