The Ostrich lives in the savanna and grasslands in Central and South Africa.
The Ostrich is the world’s fastest bird on land. The species’ long legs enable it to run quickly through the grasslands where it lives , reaching speeds of up to 40 miles per hour. This helps them survive because they can run away quickly from their predators.
The ostrich species stay together so they don’t get lost and so they don’t become prey.
The ostrich is a common animal. They live in grazing groups of 5-50 individuals. Females lay their eggs in holes scraped into the ground. These eggs can be up to 5 inches long, 6 inches wide and reach up to 30 pounds making them the largest eggs in nature.
