Sometimes it is very difficult to find Israel on a globe or world map. • We live in a very small country. • France is 20 times bigger than Israel. • United States is 340 times bigger than Israel. • Israel is on the continent of Asia. • The capital city of Israel is Jerusalem. • The large cities are Tel Aviv, Haifa, Jerusalem. • People speak many languages in Israel: • Hebrew, Arabic and English. • There are many mountains in the country. • The highest mountain is Hermon Mountain. • Israel has borders with: • Lebanon in the north • Syria , Jordan in the east • Egypt in the west • Israel is a small country, • but it is a very special country.

  6. This is our national flag The Israeli flag was adopted on October 28th, 1948. It has a blue Star of David on a white background. It has two blue stripes on the top and the bottom of the flag. The Star of David is a symbol of Judaism and the two stripes symbolize the Jewish prayer shawl called the tallit.

  10. This is our capital city… The capital city is Jerusalem. It's a very beautiful and special place. It has many holy sites for Jews, Christians and Muslims. You can pray at Western Wall. The Western Wall (also known as the Wailing Wall. In Hebrew it is Ha'kotel Ha'Ma'aravi is a holy place for the Jewish people because it is the remains of the holy temple of the Jews .   13. Cities & Places in Israel Tel Aviv Tel Aviv is a modern city with skyscrapers and hotels that overlook the Mediterranean Sea. Tel means, "mound," as it is used in archaeology. Aviv means "Spring." Today, Tel Aviv is Israel's second largest city (after Jerusalem), with a population of 360,000. Tel Aviv is Israel's commercial and financial center.

  14. Haifa Haifa is the third largest city in Israel, and it's northern capital, with a population of about 250,000. Haifa is located in a natural bay and Mount Carmel. This city has beautiful views in all directions. Haifa is a major seaport located on Israel's Mediterranean coastline.

  15. Metulla is a small town located in Northern Israel. Metulla You can see the entire Hula valley, as well as Mt. Hermon from here. Israel's only Olympic-size ice rink is located in a local sports complex. The Canada Centre is home club to most Israeli figure skaters, and it hosts the national championships Israeli Figure Skating Championships whenever they are held. It is called the Canada center because it is funded by Israeli-Canadians.

  19. Dead Sea The Dead Sea is a very salty lake that is located between Israel and Jordan. At 420 meters (1,378 ft) below sea level, it is the lowest point on Earth that is dry land. It is also the second most saltiest body of water in the world. It is also the deepest salt lake on earth at 330 m (1,083 ft) deep. Because the Dead sea is so salty, you can actually float on the water. The Dead sea is home to many resorts and spas.
