  1. Informational Meeting March 19, 2012 3rd Annual Interhall Quiz Bowl Tournament

  2. Tournament Format • Schedules • Single Round-Robin Format • Bracket Finals • Probably 8 teams will advance • Win-Loss Record first, then either Points Per Game as a tie breaker, or another game to decide who advances. • Prizes for the top few teams.

  3. Schedules

  4. Overall Schedule

  5. Rescheduling Games • If you need to reschedule one of your games, email the opposing captain as soon as possible and cc me, accnd@nd.edu on the email. • Suggest a time to make up the game, and I will verify if that time is available. • If you have a scheduled game and no one from your team is present, you will forfeit.

  6. Checking In • Please report to the Great Hall of O’Shaughnessey Hall no later than 10 minutes before the scheduled start time of your game. • Check in with the representative there. • Wait in the Great Hall until someone from Quiz Bowl tells you that you can move to the rooms.

  7. Game Format • A game consists of 20 tossup-bonus pairs of questions. • Teams play 4 members at a time. • Moderator will read a tossup. Whichever team gets it right will then have the chance to answer three bonus questions, for 10 points each. • The team that gets the most points wins.

  8. Tossup • Before the asterisk (in the bold region) is worth 15 points. • Any other correct answer is worth 10. • An incorrect answer before the end of the question is -5 points for the team. • No collaboration within the team. • One answer from the team locks them out for that question. • 5 seconds to begin an answer after buzzing in. • 4 seconds to buzz in after the end of the question.

  9. Bonus • 10 points for each part of the bonus. • The three parts are generally related to each other. • One answer from the team. • Can discuss before giving an answer. • 5 seconds to answer once each part has been read. • Bonuses will not rebound.

  10. More Information • Email me: accnd@nd.edu • Check our website: www.nd.edu/~accnd • Click Interhall Tourney • I will hopefully get the schedules and this slideshow up today. • Stats will also be posted here.
