  1. San Francisco Estuary Institute Item #6a SPLWG Special and Pilot Studies – Small Tributaries Loading Study #2 – some TRC votes in Lester McKee San Francisco Estuary Institute, Oakland, CA

  2. San Francisco Estuary Institute Item #6a TRC votes in so far…(Note: 3 means high rank)

  3. Item #6a SPLWG votes for a location for a new Small Tributaries Loading Study(Note: 1 mean high rank)

  4. Item #6a Why Study Another Tributary? • Since 2000, the WG has supported the Establishment of a “Regional Network of Observation Watersheds”: • Choose watersheds that represent different urban landscapes, different hydrological, climatological, and geological types • Testing grounds for development of improved monitoring and modeling techniques • Testing ground for management actions and strategies to detect the effect of management actions on long-term trends in loads • Extrapolate data to other watersheds in each region that are sampled less intensively • Options discussed at last meeting • A medium urban watershed • A small industrial watershed • A reference watershed (mixed urb/ag/open that provides a baseline for atmospheric deposition) • Choice of watershed will differ depending on objectives • If loadings then choose one with large area or know high contamination • If trends then choose one where there will be either land use or management changes • If modeling then go with a watershed that has existing data and is well mapped (characterized)
