Head Teacher Awards Bethany Austin Attendance Certificate BRONZE • BETH: Beth is an independent learner who has been self-motivated in studying for her GCSE’s in English Language, English Literature, Maths, Science, Law OCR Nationals & ICT for Business L2. • Beth has visited the law courts in Preston as part of her Law GCSE and has been accepted at Newman College to study A Levels in September. AUSTIN: Austin quietly focuses on the task in hand. He can work independently and will always try to achieve the best of his ability while working towards his GCSE’s in English Language, English Literature, Maths, Science, History as well as AQA L1 Award in PSCHE, OCR Nationals & ICT For Business L2 Certificate. Austin has gained experience of Brickwork, Joinery and Painting & Decorating at the Eric Wright Learning Foundation.

  3. LAUREN:  Lauren took pride in her work & worked hard to complete tasks. She has sat GCSE’s in English & Maths as well as Functional Skills ICT for Business Level 2 Pass, Level 1 VRQ – Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector. Lauren represented Be-De-Stressed Hair & Beauty in competitions. Lauren Attendance Certificate GOLD Attendance Certificate GOLD NATALIE: Natalie hasn't been at Shaftesbury long but in that short time she has worked towards completing her GCSE’s. Celebrate Achievements… KARELLE:  Karelle is self motivated and keen to achieve. She has really focussed and applied herself to produce work to the best of her ability in studying for GCSE’s in English,& Maths. She also worked to obtain qualifications in Child Development & getting her Level 2 in Creative Media Production. Karelle has gained experience of Hair & Beauty at Be-De-Stressed and at Mole End Animal & Equine Education Centre. Natalie JAMIE:  Jamie has taken GCSE Maths as well as AQA L1 Award in PSCHE & OCR Nationals ICT for Business L2 Certificate. Jamie gained skills in Catering & Hospitality whilst at Runshaw College, He also gained experience at Sound Skills in Preston and has a clear ambition to become a Commercial Artist. He would like to continue at Runshaw College to fulfil his dream. Karelle Jamie Dylan DYLAN:  Dylan prefers practical activities but has produced some excellent written work during his studies for GCSE English & Maths. He has completed studies in AQA L1 Units in PSCHE, Functional Skills ICT for Business Level 2 Pass & Level 2 BTech Sport. Dylan has gained experience in the Motor Vehicle Industry, at Fix it UK, completing his IMI Level 1 Diploma in Vehicle Maintainance. Dylan has regularly represented Shaftesbury House on the KS4 Football team. In 2013 Shaftesbury House became ”AP Champions of North West Schools”. Dylan was voted as Players Player of the year 2013.

  4. Improving Futures… Kim Darren DARREN: DJ is a natural leader & has taken on his studies for GCSE’s in English & Maths with determination. DJ has completed a Level 1 Certificate in Construction with the Eric Wright Learning Foundation. He also gained experience with Training 2000 in Plumbing. DJ has regularly represented Shaftesbury House on the KS4 Football team. In 2013 Shaftesbury House became ”AP Champions of North West Schools”. DJ was awarded the Goal of the Season 2013. Attendance Certificate GOLD Attendance Certificate BRONZE KIM: If Kim chooses to do something she will do it well. She takes great pride in any work she produces and pays attention to detail. Kim has had a number of interviews with work placements and has worked with Future Horizons on her employability skills and is hoping for a good result in her GCSE English Language. CHRISTIAN: Christian has worked steadily to achieve his targets IN GCSE English, Maths & History as well as for his OCR Nationals ICT For Business L2 Certificate & Level 1 Award in Vehicle Maintenance. His attitude towards learning has been consistently impressive both in school and at vocational provision. AARON: Aaron has taken responsibility for his learning and has always worked to the best of his ability in striving to achieve his GCSE’s in English Language, English Literature, Maths & Science. He also studied Functional Skills in ICT for Business Level 2 Pass & Level 2 in Creative Media Production. Aaron has worked on Sound Technology projects during which he has applied himself well throughout the course and has learnt many skills. Christian Aaron

  5. Josh JOSH: Josh can demonstrate an outstanding attitude towards learning. He has at times taken great care to produce excellent work, both written and practical in his studies for GCSE English & Maths. He also undertook courses in Level 2 BTech Sport, Level 2 in Creative Media Production, AQA L1 Units in PSCHE, OCR Nationals ICT For Business L2 Certificate. Josh has studied a Motor Vehicle course at Fix it UK for two years. He has completed a Level 1 award in Vehicle Maintenance. Josh has regularly represented Shaftesbury House on the KS4 Football team. In 2013 Shaftesbury House became ”AP Champions of North West Schools”. Attendance Certificate GOLD AttendanceCertificate SILVER Attendance Certificate BRONZE Striving for Success… NATHAN: Nathan will complete practical activities to a high standard and studied throughout to do the best in his GCSE’s English & Maths. Nathan’s other study areas were AQA L1 Units in PSCHE , L2 BTech Sport & Functional Skills ICT for Business Level 2 Pass. Nathan has thoroughly enjoyed the bodywork element of his motor vehicle course and has produced some excellent work. Nathan has regularly represented Shaftesbury House on the KS4 Football team. In 2013 Shaftesbury House became ”AP Champions of North West Schools”. Grace GRACE: Grace is a natural leader and can influence her peers in a positive way. Grace has taken full responsibility for her learning in her studies for GCSE English Language, English Literature, Maths & Science. Grace also studied for her Functional Skills ICT for Business Level 2 for which she received a ‘Pass’ as well as studying City & Guilds Entry Level 3 in Caring for Children. Through Runshaw Training, Grace has completed the first step of her Childcare apprenticeship. She completed an extended placement at Leyland Methodist Infant School where pupils and staff developed strong professional relationships with her.

  6. Joe • Learning new skills… JOE: Joe sat his GCSE exams for English & Maths. He engaged well in practical activities. He was rarely keen to write but when he did he produced good work which came from the heart.. He received his L1 Award in Vehicle Maintenance. Joe has been working with CSV in Preston on a variety of media projects. He has also gained experience in Fishery Management Attendance Certificate GOLD Stevie LEWIS : Lewis is tenacious and strong willed but will always seek to achieve fairness and justice. He has worked towards achieving GCSE’s in English & Maths. He has received a L1 Award in Fisheries Management. Lewis has also gained experience in Motor Vehicle Studies, Construction, Catering, Media and Film production, Electronic music making, Military Preparation, Plumbing and Prince’s Trust. Lewis helped to raise £60 for Macmillan Cancer Research by hosting a coffee Morning. STEVIE: Stevieis a mature and independent young man who worked hard for his GCSE’s in English, Maths & Science. Stevie has also studied for his Functional Skills ICT, BTech Sport, BTech L2 Applied Science. Stevie has completed an IMIAL L1 Award at Fix it in Vehicle Maintenance and has also gained L2 experience at Preston College in Construction. He has regularly represented Shaftesbury House on the KS4 Football team. In 2013 Shaftesbury House became ”AP Champions of North West Schools”. Stevie was awarded the “Managers player of the year 2013”

  7. JAMIEL: Jamiel is self motivated and strives to achieve the best results for himself in GCSE English, Maths & Science. He received his AQA L1 Award in PSCHE, BTech Foundation Certificate in Construction (P&D, Joinery, Brickwork) at Training 2000 & his Level 1 Certificate in Basic Construction Skills (Brickwork & Plumbing) at Eric Wright Construction Learning Foundation. Jamiel has regularly represented Shaftesbury House on the KS4 Football team. In 2013 Shaftesbury House became ”AP Champions of North West Schools”. Jamiel Attendance Certificate BRONZE Attendance Certificate BRONZE Building my own future… Bethany Atlanta BETHANY: Beth is self motivated and has taken pride in the work she has done to sit her GCSE’s in Maths, English & Child Development. Beth has completed 12 months at The Mole End Animal & Equine Education Centre studying Horse Care. Beth has a place at Myerscough College in September. ATLANTA: Atlanta can work independently or as part of a team and has produced some excellent work this year. Atlanta will always look for ways to improve on her achievements & is positive for a good results in her GCSE English, Maths, Science & Child Development Hannah Daniel DANIEL:  Daniel has used advice from staff to make good progress towards his GCSE’s in English Language, English Literature & Maths. He has already achieved his IMIALLevel 1 Certificate in Vehicle Maintenance at Fix it. HANNAH: Hannah has demonstrated a mature attitude and took a pride in her work in studying for her GCSE’s in English & Maths. She achieved her NVQ1 Hairdressing at Runshaw College.

Leon • Growing in confidence… Roseanne Attendance Certificate GOLD AttendanceCertificate SILVER LEON: Leon completed his studies in preparation for his GCSE English & Maths, his OCR Nationals ICT for Business L2 Certificate & Level 1 Certificate in Basic Construction Skills. Leon prefers practical work & produced high standards in completing the Construction course with Training 2000, and gained experience in other construction disciplines with the Eric Wright Learning Foundation. Leon gained experience with Runshaw College doing Catering and Hospitality Services too. Leon has regularly represented Shaftesbury House on the KS4 Football team. In 2013 Shaftesbury House became ”AP Champions of North West Schools” ROSEANNE: Roseanne is conscientious and hard working. She has produced some work of a very good standard throughout the year and is positive for good GCSE results in English Language, English Literature, Maths, Child Development, History & Art. She has already achieved her Functional Skills ICT for Business Level 2 Pass. Roseanne has visited the Imperial War Museum as part of her History Course. Jack JACK: Jack is creative and can when he chooses produce work of a good standard. He is hopeful of good results in his GCSE English & Maths, Level 2 BTech Sport, OCR Nationals ICT For Business L2 Diploma. Jack gained valuable experience in Construction at the Eric Wright Learning Foundation. Jack has regularly represented Shaftesbury House on the KS4 Football team. In 2013 Shaftesbury House became ”AP Champions of North West Schools”. Alisha ALISHA: Alisha took great responsibility for her own learning in studying for her GCSE’s in English Language, English Literature, Maths & Child Development Alisha completed work experience in Fosterfield Day Centre and has worked extensively with Future Horizons on employability skills. Cavan Cavan sat his GCSE’s for Maths & Art (Short Course). He also studied for a BTech Foundation Certificate in Construction & IMIL Level 1 Award in Vehicle Maintenance. Cavan is self motivated and selects the tasks he wants to achieve. He worked better when given practical activities & has demonstrated a determination to complete his vocational courses.

  9. Michael Jasmin MICHAEL:  Michael is keen to work independently and set a good standard of learning for his GCSE English, Maths, Science & Art (Short Course). He also studied Functional Skills ICT for Business Level 2 Pass & Level 2 in Creative Media Production. Michael has enjoyed a short course with Soundskills in Preston studying music technology. He regularly attended his local youth centre and is a keen and talented musician. JASMIN: Jasmin was a valued team member at Be-De-Stressed while studying Hair & Beauty. AttendanceCertificate SILVER Jack Kelly JACK:  Jack preferred practical activities but could produce work of a good standard. He sat his GCSE exams for English & Maths. Jack completed a Level 1 award in Vehicle maintenance at 4tech Moto. KELLY: Kelly joined with us late and completedthe last stages of her GCSE studies for English, Maths & Science. She is keen to achieve her targets and fulfil her ambitions. Kelly gained experience of Hair and Beauty skills at Be-De-Stressed and animation and photography at Sound Skills. Attendance Certificate BRONZE Building a foundation to further education… Jade Billy JADE: Jade was capable of producing a high standard of work. She took pride in what she did and showed determination to complete a task. Jade sat her GCSE English Language, Maths, Child Development & Art (Short Course). BILLY: Billy studied for his GCSE English & Maths. He also studied at Cast North West for his L1 Award Fisheries Management. Adam ADAM: Adam has had experience of Construction at the Eric Wright Learning Foundation. He regularly represented Shaftesbury House on the KS4 Football team. In 2013 Shaftesbury House became ”AP Champions of North West Schools”. Josh JOSH:  Josh demonstrated more enthusiasm for practical activities but was also capable of producing a good standard of work for his studies in GCSE’s Science & Art (Short Course). Josh gained experience in Construction at The Eric Wright Learning Foundation & in motor vehicle with 4tech Moto. He has the ability and dedication to complete his goals at college if he chooses to do so. Dylan DYLAN: Dylan preferred practical studies and achieved Functional Skills ICT for Business Level 2 Pass, Functional Skills English Entry Level 3, Maths Entry Level 3 and ICT Level 1. He also studied for his C & G Employability and Personal Development Award Level 1, IMIAL Level 1 Award in Vehicle Maintenance at 4Tech Moto. These, alongside his studies for his GCSE’s in English & Maths should provide him with an excellent foundation for his further education.
