  2. ITU-R WP5D Meeting Summary – February 2010 • SWG M.1457 (SWG IMT.SPECS) • The updated final material should be submitted for all six technologies by the June meeting. • It was clarified that the Roadmap is focusing on Rec. ITU-R M.1457 as the title suggests, and it was also noted that this is indeed a living document, subject to continuous changes and updates. • Input contributions are invited on this topic for the next meeting • It was commented that the Roadmap should be in terms of functionalities rather than standards might be helpful. • For the time being, a footnote was added to the updated Roadmap and it was clarified that the information toward IMT-Advanced is included for information only.

  3. ITU-R WP5D Meeting Summary – February 2010 • General Aspects • General Aspects is considering updating the Handbook and Supplement 1 • The group will seek input from ITU-T and ITU-D for their intention, because the Handbook has been developed by all three sectors. • A drafting group was established to consider what area is required for the update. It was also suggested to consider the work of WP5D of the supplement to update the Guidelines on the Smooth Transition of Existing Mobile Networks to IMT-2000 for Developing Countries (GST). • Work for timeframe 2012-2020 • The meeting generally agreed with the principles that the mobile broadband industry’s mission is to continue meeting the demands of consumers by advancing the IMT service offerings and provide even higher data rate connectivity. • Therefore it is necessary to provide equally high data rate services and quality to the mobile broadband consumer

  4. ITU-R WP5D Meeting Summary – February 2010 • General Aspects: Work for timeframe 2012-2020 • Two general points were highlighted that would be useful for the future work on IMT: • take into account new behaviors, particularly while considering the usages of smart phones and personal computer devices • longer term aspects by means of new estimations and market forecasts • In the light of these increasing consumer demands, mobile data traffic, subscriber numbers and forecasts, the meeting deemed to be very timely to review and consider existing and new operational requirements for current and future developments of terrestrial IMT networks. • Members are invited to contribute on this to the next meetings of WP5D.

  5. ITU-R WP5D Meeting Summary – February 2010 • SWG Coordination • The group reviewed documents by the technology proponents (for IEEE Evaluation Coordination meeting and for 3GPP Evaluation Workshop) and the Correspondence Group activities held after the 6th meeting of WP 5D. • SWG Coordination acknowledged that the activities were successful in providing the Independent Evaluation Groups with sufficient information for external evaluations. It was agreed that the Correspondence Group would continue as scheduled. • SWG Coordination also noted that a 2nd Evaluation Coordination meeting and a 2nd Evaluation Workshop are planned in May 2010.

  6. ITU-R WP5D Meeting Summary – February 2010 • SWG Coordination • Preliminary/interim evaluation reports on the candidate technologies: • They are from ten Independent Evaluation Groups in twelve contributions, that are 5D/650 (ChEG), 5D/651 (WFEG), 5D/652 (TTA), 5D/653 (TTA), 5D/657 (TCOE India), 5D/661 (WINNER+), 5D/662 (REG), 5D/667 (WCAI), 5D/668 (CEG), 5D/669 (TR-45), 5D/670 (ATIS), and 5D/671 (ATIS). • SWG Coordination reviewed all the preliminary/interim evaluation reports in the administrative aspects and agreed that evaluations in the Independent Evaluation Groups are on track for final evaluation reports submitted in June 2010

  7. ITU-R WP5D Meeting Summary – February 2010 • SWG Coordination • Other business • SWG Coordination noted that the open area rural model with low mobility presented should be discussed after 7th meeting of WP 5D. A new topic for this question should be created under Forum 3 of the Correspondence Group for IMT-Advanced Evaluation. Contributions are encouraged on a way forward for the open area rural model with low mobility.

  8. ITU-R WP5D Meeting Summary – February 2010 • Evaluation • The SWG considered the following Documents to this meeting: • 5D/630 (China, Korea, Japan), 5D/645 (China),5D/650 (ChEG), 5D/651 (WFEG), 5D/652 (TTA PG707), 5D/653 (TTA PG707), 5D/657 (TCOE India),5D/660 (WINNER+),5D/661 (WINNER+), 5D/662 (REG), 5D/667 (WCAI EG), 5D/668 (CEG), 5D/669 (TR-45), 5D/670 (ATIS), 5D/671 (ATIS),5D/674 (Correspondence Forum Convener).

  9. ITU-R WP5D Meeting Summary – February 2010 • SWG Sharing • Revision of Report ITU-R M.2039 • At the 5th meeting, Working Party 5D had agreed to initiate a this revision to include the technical and operational characteristics for IMT-2000 systems to be used in sharing studies applicable to the frequency bands identified for IMT at WRC-07 and developed a detailed workplan accordingly. • Received two contributions (Documents 5D/624 and 5D/635) proposing text for the revision of Report ITU-R M.2039. • Additionally, a Liaison statement to External Organizations was developed to facilitate the revision of this report.

  10. ITU-R WP5D Meeting Summary – February 2010 • SWG Sharing • PDNR ITU-R M.[IMT-MITIGATION] • As agreed at the previous meeting of Working Party 5D, Drafting Group IMT.MITIGATION developed a working document towards a PDNR ITU-R M.[IMT.MITIGATION] based on three input contributions (Documents 5D/625, 5D/633 and 5D/664). • Furthermore, two Liaison statements were developed to Working Party 4A and to External Organizations to facilitate the further development of this working document at the next meeting. • Antenna isolation of base stations • Six input contributions had been received (Documents 5D/606, 5D/639, 5D/641, 5D/646, 5D/649 and 5D/673) related to the working document towards a PDN Report working document towards a PDN Report on isolation for antennas of base stations in the land mobile service including IMT. • Based on these input contributions and further discussion at the meeting, Drafting Group Antenna Isolation further developed the working document towards a PDN Report. • Additionally, a liaison statement to Working Parties 1A and 5A was developed to inform them about the progress of work on this topic.
