**Scientific Notation(large numbers)**Textbook page 114**What is scientific notation?**Scientific notation is a way of rewriting large or small numbers so that you have one digit in the one’s place multiplied by some power of ten.**Describe the steps of rewriting a large number in scientific**notation. Step 1: Move the decimal left, so that only one digit is in front of the decimal. Step 2: Multiply that number by a power of ten. (The exponent is how many times you had to move the decimal.)**Example 1: Write each number in scientific notation.**• 700,000 * move the decimal 7.0 * multiply by a power of ten 7.0 x 105 (The exponent is 5 because we moved the decimal 5 places.)**Example 1: Write each number in scientific notation.**(B) 8,296,000 * move the decimal 8.296 * multiply by a power of ten 8.296 x 106 (The exponent is 6 because we moved the decimal 6 places.)**Example 1: Write each number in scientific notation.**(C) 58,000 * move the decimal 5.8 * multiply by a power of ten 5.8 x 104 (The exponent is 4 because we moved the decimal 4 places.)**Example 2: Write each number in standard form.**(A) 8.753 x 102 * move the decimal right the number of the exponent 875.3**Example 2: Write each number in standard form.**(B) 3.2 x 107 * move the decimal right the number of the exponent * fill in any open spaces with zeros 32,000,000**Example 2: Write each number in standard form.**(C) 2.001 x 101 * move the decimal right the number of the exponent 20.01
