Amateur astronomers • 10,000's already doing public outreach and informal education • Every country(?), regardless of academics, formal education • Star parties, exhibitions, etc. • Astronomy Day, ISAN, independent sidewalk astronomy • 100 Hours of Astronomy connected them under one flag, making them part of something much bigger • AWB and Global Astronomy Month continue this but with significant, continuous evolution and expansion • Con: Insufficient background in astronomy

Astronomers Without Borders • Rapid growth shows level of enthusiasm • AWB provides opportunities • Shaped by community, not other way around • Many programs created and driven by community • New program areas from partners, new members • Connecting partners leads to innovative, collaborative programs • One People, One Sky • We’re connected by sharing the same sky • We’re connected by our passion for the sky • We’re connected by our passion for sharing the sky • Community existed but without contact
