  1. Avalina Self Help Group Chavakali, Kenya Chavakali Yearly Meeting Headquarters in background. The Yearly Meeting rents space to the Avalina Self Help Group for its programs. The Group is a recipient of a grant from Right Sharing of World Resources.

  3. Avalina Self Help Group Craft Projects Monies raised from sales help support the elder care program described in Blueprints Lesson #8.

  4. The baskets are lined with cellulose and used as carriers for hot food.

  5. More crafts. The three circles to the left are made of banana leaves and are used to help balance the loads which women carry on their heads.

  6. The group harvests honey for sale locally and is in the process of getting it approved so they can market it more widely. They have used some of their Right Sharing of World Resources money for jars and labels.

  7. A taste of Kenya—The label states “Buy to promote Centre for the Old Aged.”

  8. The Group also sells charcoal which they make themselves from sawdust and manure. This process occurs in the building in the background.

  11. Typical Kenyan snack—Bread and butter sandwiches, boiled eggs and Chai tea. Samson Ababu, RSWR representative for Kenya, with Milcah, Mary Lee Comer and Jan McVay, both of Western Yearly Meeting.
