  2. Were He Was Born • He was born on June 1st ,1801 in Witingham , Vermont.

  3. He Gets Older • When he got older he fished and hunted to provide food for his family. • He only attended 11 days of school in his lifetime! (That is why his mother home schooled him)

  4. Brigham Moves Out At the age of 16 Brigham’s father made him LEAVE the house and work for his own money.

  5. Some Of His Jobs • Brigham built canal boats, worked at a pail factory, and made leather from animal skins. • Brigham repaired furniture, built cabinets, and painted houses. • And sure enough, he became known as a skilled and honest worker.

  6. Not Alone Anymore • In his early 20’s Brigham fell in love with Miriam Angeline Works. • They were married on October 5th , 1824.

  7. His Children • In 1825 Miriam and Brigham’s 1st daughter, Elizabeth, was born. • And then in 1830 they’re 2nd daughter, Vilate, was born.

  8. What He Was Famous For • In February 1846, Brigham and a group of Mormons began their 1,300 mile journey from Nauvoo. • In July 1847, Brigham found a home for the Mormons. YAY! YAY!

  9. An Education for the Mormons • In 1850 Brigham established the University of Deseret (Today it is called the University of Utah) • In 1875 he founded Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

  10. Remembering Brigham • Brigham died on August 29, 1877.
