C Power requirement: 1 KW start-up costs very low Newer technologies emerging Promising 1/2 Mbps connectivity with OFDM (like 802.16 / WiMax) with HDR and HSDPA corDECT Wireless in Local Loop is one such wireless technology developed in India. It connects villages in 30 Km radius around a town. The Exchange and Base station costs are low and the design is rugged (works at 55 degree Centigrade) and power requirement of these central unit is less than 1 KW. This provides today 35 or 70 kbps dedicated (sustained or unshared) connectivity to each village and will soon be upgraded to provide 100 or 200 kbps dedicated connectivity. The total cost (including deployment) is under $ 200 for each village.corDECT Wireless in Local Loop is one such wireless technology developed in India.
