Perkins Act of 2006 • Federal Program that supplants CTE programs • 1/9 requirements of the Perkins Act of 2006 • Evaluate CTE Programs (Advisory Committee) and use data: • To improve CTE programs • To determine program modifications for special populations • To determine CTE staff professional development needs
Objective • To provide a link between the school and industry • ATwo-way system of communication • Industry informs school of industry needs • School informs industry of the services the school can provide
Functions • Assist in identifying industry skills and competencies to be included in CTE courses • Advise on short and long-term plans for CTE program areas • Make recommendations on equipment/instructional materials • Assist in placing students in internships/mentorships
Advisory Committee • A group of persons in and outside of the education profession • CTE Coordinator • School administrator • Parent - voting member • CTE Students (2) – voting members • KHS CTE teachers and San Jacinto College instructors • Professionals from Business/Industry - voting members
