Cannabis (marijuana, pot, grass, weed) • Description: comes from dried tops, leaves, stems and seeds of the marijuana plant • Effects: short term memory loss, concentration and ability to think clearly may be impaired. High feeling, almost euphoric, loss of interest in activities and increased appetite

  3. Alcohol • Description: depressant that slows the Central Nervous System • Effects: relaxed, less inhibited, slow reflexes. It can cause cirrhosis of the liver with prolonged use. Mood swings/change. Decreased sperm production in men

  4. Solvents and Aerosols (glue, gas) • Description: substances manufactured by chemical industry (gas, glue etc) • Effects: feeling of euphoria, loss of coordination, lead poisoning and death

  5. Methamphetamine (speed, meth) • Description: pills, powder, liquid, addictive stimulant • Effects: decreased appetite, increased physical activity, damage to blood vessels in the brain, strokes, irregular heart beat, respiratory problems, death

  6. Cocaine (coke, snow, blow, ice, rock) • Description: powerful stimulant of the Central Nervous System • Effects: breathing and blood pressure increase, enlarged pupils, damage to nose tissue

  7. Rohypnol (roofies) • Description: makes a person less able to resist any form of assault, sedative • Effects: loss of memory, impaired judgement periods of blackouts, seizures. May be fatal if mixed with other drugs, respiratory shut-down

  8. G.H.B(Gamma-Hydroxybutyric) • Description: makes a person less able to resist sexual assault. Looks and smells like water, also available as a white powder. • Effects: dizziness, nausea, vomiting, loss of consciousness, seizures, depressed breathing, coma, vomiting while sleeping, death

  9. Ketamine (Special K, Kit Kat) • Description: painkliller used by vets. Liquid, white powder or pill form • Effects: temporary hallucinations, amnesia, less inhibitions, flashbacks, decreased oxygen to brain an muscles, unconsciousness, death may occur.

  10. Ecstasy( E, love drug, X) • Description: combination of hallucinogen and stimulant. Tablet or gelatin capsule form • Effects: excited feeling, less inhibitions, euphoria, overeating, dehydration, cardiovascular or kidney failure, paralysis, brain damage

  11. Ritalin (Rit, Vitamin R) • Description: commonly used for ADHD. Now used as illegal drug, tablet form (crushed to snort) • Effects: strong stimulant when snorted, similar to speed or cocaine. Nervousness, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, digestive problems, dependence, depression upon withdrawal.
