  2. Deakin University School of Medicine First Intake 2008 First Graduates 2011 130 HECS funded students per intake Medical School at Waurn Ponds Campus Geelong Clinical Schools at Barwon Health, Ballarat Health, South West Health, Eastern Health and in general practices across Western Victoria.

Post graduate Medical school utilising the 4 year Flinders / St George curriculum Emphasis on regional and rural health Deakin has a commitment to disadvantaged and non metropolitan students Strong distance education focus with Cloud learning IMMERse a first clinical year program based in rural GP settings to learn hospital based disciplines

  4. How is Deakin School of Medicine Structured ? Two GP Professors Alfred Felton Chair at Kardinia Health in Geelong Professor of Rural General Practice at SW Health in Warrnambool Associated senior lecturer positions Clinical tutors in clinical schools IMMERsE program currently based in Camperdown with Medical Educator

  5. Relationships with Regional Training Providers Main Provider is SGPT VMA in Geelong and Bellarine. Beyond Medical Education around Ballarat

  6. Rural Generalist Pathway in Geelong Five year pathway for a number of procedural skills and emergency medicine hospital rotations combined with RACGP or ACRRM Fellowship.

  7. Rural Generalist Pathway in Geelong II Need for hospital progression means that rural GP experience is last. Overtraining requirements from hospital based proceduralists Need for non proceduralist terms eg psychiatry general medicine and palliative care. Single program with lateral entry problematic
