  4. Handwriting Is a Basic Skill Whose Instruction Usually Begins in Childhood

Graphology in Literature and Media • In "The Sign of Four,“Sherlock Holmes usedgraphology to describethe personality of thewriter of a letter • In ”A Game of Shadows,”Sherlock used graphologyto describe Moriarty'spersonality • The upward strokes onthe p, the j, and the mindicated a genius-level intellect • Flourishes in the lower zone denoted a highly creative, yet meticulous nature • The overall slant and pressure of the writing suggested acute narcissism and a complete lack of empathy • In a cat woman movie, handwriting was used to surmise that Patience hada split personality • The handwriting samples were later found to be from 2 different people

Did I Write That? • NASA researchers treated spiders with LSD, speed, marijuana, and caffeine • The spider that was high on marijuana did a fair job weaving, but then got bored or distracted and didn’t finish • The one on speed moved fast, but without much awareness of the overall picture, leaving large gaps • The acid-tripping spider wove a psychedelic, symmetrical web that was very pretty but not great at catching bugs • Caffeine was associated with the most “dysfunctional” web
