Why BMES at RPI? • Get involved within the department: • Meet and get to know your faculty & staff • Student-faculty mixers • Professor directed discussions/presentations • Personal faculty luncheons • Find research opportunities • Learn your options within your curriculum • Connect with other Biological Science departments

  4. Why National BMES? • Benefits: • Monthly newsletter • Access to online job postings • Resume builder • Annals of Biomedical Engineering journal • National conference • Discounted tickets to the conference each year • $30.00 membership fee • Want to learn more about National BMES? www.bmes.org

What We Hope to Accomplish: • Expose you to all of your options: • Figure out what fits you best for after graduation • Meet professionals from industry across the nation • Learn what research you can do as an undergrad or grad • Talk to professors about what they’re doing on campus • Hear from other students about the work they do • Field trips to local companies • Stryker • GE • Other ideas welcome

How We Run: • General Body Meetings every other Wednesday at 7pm • $10 membership fee (only $5 if you register as a nat’l member) • Money goes towards: refreshments during General Body Meetings; travel costs of guest speakers; field trip transportation; etc. • Executive Board Meetings every other Sunday at 5pm • General Body members welcome to attend • Junior E-board attends every other meeting

  7. Executive Board Duties: • Contact companies to visit campus for presentations and info sessions • Meet with professors to set up organized luncheons, mixers, and discussions • Plan General Body Meeting topics, presentations, etc. • Organize field trips • Collaborate with other universities and programs to develop events

  8. Junior E-board? • If you’re interested, please stay after! • Gain leadership experience • Build connections with professors in the department • Get in contact with companies in the area • Build your resume • Brainstorm ideas for events this semester • MUST be on junior e-board in order to run for an executive board position next year!

  9. Our First Event: • Edwards Lifesciences Info Session • Friday, October 2nd at 4:00pm in LOW 3051 • Bring resumes and questions! • Dinner will be served • Follow-up interviews will be held on October 14th
