  2. Practice Warm-Up • Go for a good warm-up run • 1 mile = good • Static Stretching • Standing/sitting and stretching • Dynamic Stretching • The “Bible”

  3. Meet Warm-Up • Team warm-up same as practice • Individual warm-up before each event • Warm-up drills depend on the event • Should break a small sweat

  4. Bad Warm-Up Consequences • Injury • Bad performance

  5. Cool Down • Go for a cool down run/jog after last event • Stretch

  6. Nutrition • Eat healthy all season • Bring healthy snacks for meets • Drink lots of water all season • Especially meet days

  7. Equipment: Shoes • New shoes each season • Get right type of shoe • 3 different types of running shoes • Spikes optional • Help perform better

  8. Poor Shoes Consequences • INJURY!!!! • Bad performance

  9. Other Equipment • Track in good shape • Not bubbling up • Not too wet/slippery • Check all equipment before use • Run equipment • Jump equipment • Throw equipment

  10. Other Equipment Cont. - Run • Starting blocks work correctly • Batons in good condition • Hurdles set properly and not broken

  11. Other Equipment Cont. - Jump Long and Triple • Boards marked correctly and not slippery • Pits raked and evened out • Runway cleared • Sand swept/water pushed off • No people crossing

  12. Other Equipment Cont. - Jump High and Pole Vault • Standards and mats set and sturdy • Runways cleared • Correct pole (vault only) • Correct weight • Helmet optional (vault only)
