  2. About MONIC The registry for the .modomain name registration is operated by the Macao Network Information Center (MONIC) Operated by the University of Macau(UMAC) since 1992 Handover the MONIC operation from UMAC to HNET Asia Limited on 12 March 2011

About HNET Asia • Be MONIC operation entity starting from 12 March 2011 • Joint venture of HN Group and DotAsiaOrganisation. • Mission • Developing the .MO registry into a world class registry that speaks to the people of Macao • Maintaining the reliability, security and stability of the .MO Registry

Registration Policy The regulation is published by Macao SAR government Domain name must match either  the name of the entity or the trademark registered in Macao Documentary proof  that its entity is registered with Macao SAR Personal domain is not allowed Duration: one year, have to renewal every year Fee: MOP200 or USD25 per domain per year

  5. Domain Name Format The length of Domain names cannot exceed 63 characters and can consist of the letters A to Z of the English alphabet the numbers 0-9 or hyphens (-). English alphabet or numbers must be used at the beginning and at the end of a domain name, and the third and fourth characters of a domain name cannot be hyphens simultaneously.

Current Challenge Many long expired domains In the past, expired domains would be not suspended which gave the wrong idea to the customer Contact information of domain owner not update According to the new regulation effective on 22 Aug 2011, the expired domain will be deleted. Currently, the 6 months grace period is nearly over. Try the best to approach those customers by phone, email & post.

  10. Future work • IDN (Chinese Domain name) • including the Top-Level, .澳門&.澳门 • begin work on policy and required documents • SpecialChinese character like “氹”仔(taipa), IDN variant table • IPv6 and DNSSEC • Implement registry system • Promote to public
