Office of Systems & Technology 11.05.2009 How Does ExamSoft Work? • Register for ExamSoft • Download and install SofTest • Run through Mock Exam • Download exam files • Launch Exam • Computer reboots into secure mode • Write your exam answers and end when completed • Computer reboots again, back to normal mode • Upload your answer file Boston University Slideshow Title Goes Here

Office of Systems & Technology 11.05.2009 Requirements: PC Boston University Slideshow Title Goes Here • CPU: 1.3 GHz Pentium 4 or industry equivalent • RAM: 1GB or greater • Hard Drive: 50MB of free space for SofTest install • Wireless network card: 802.11b/g/n • Operating System: English-language versions ONLY of the following • Windows XP (32-bit) • Windows Vista (32- or 64-bit) • Windows 7 (32- or 64-bit) • Software: Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater • Internet access for SofTest installation, exam download and upload • AOL Users - version 6.0 or higher required • Display resolution must be 1024x768 or higher

Office of Systems & Technology 11.05.2009 Requirements: Mac Boston University Slideshow Title Goes Here • CPU: Intel-Based – (MacBook / MacBook Pro / MacBook Air) • RAM: 1GB or greater • Wireless network card: 802.11b/g/n • Hard Drive: 50MB for SofTest install and 20GB partition recommended for Windows install under Boot Camp • Operating System: Mac OS X v10.5 / 10.6 (Leopard / Snow Leopard) and Boot Camp with English-language versions ONLY of the following • Windows XP (32-bit) • Windows Vista (32- or 64-bit) • Windows 7 (32- or 64-bit) • Software: Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater • Internet access for SofTest installation, exam download and upload • Display resolution must be 1024x768 or higher • The following software may NOT be installed at any point: Parallels Desktop, VMware Fusion

Office of Systems & Technology 11.05.2009 Registration Boston University Slideshow Title Goes Here • Register by November 16 • http://www.examsoft.com/bulaw • Enter BU ID number (including “U”) • Click on (!) symbol • Enter BU ID again, click send • Receive password, enter it and BU ID on Exam Taker log in page • Click “Download Softest,” follow instructions to install • Take Mock Exam (follow instructions)

Office of Systems & Technology 11.05.2009 Before Exam Day • Verify class enrollment • Configure laptop for BU LAW wireless network • Download and install SofTest • Register SofTest • Take Practice Exam / Mock Exam • Run anti-virus and anti-spyware checks • Check for important reminders in your email • Download exam files • Obtain your semester exam number (available through Student Link) • Double-check exam day, time, and room (available through LL.M. Office of Systems & Technology 11.05.2009 On Exam Day • Bring BU ID • Bring semester exam number • Bring laptop power adapter (required) and wireless card if external • Disable hibernation mode, firewalls, automatic updates. (Re-enable after exam) • Arrive 30 minutes before scheduled start time • Start SofTest, click “Launch SofTest” • Select Exam File, enter semester exam number and exam password • Click “Begin Exam” • Wait at “STOP” sign for instructor, type “begin” to start exam • Click “Exit exam” when finished, computer will reboot Boston University Slideshow Title Goes Here

Office of Systems & Technology 11.05.2009 After Your Exam • Computer reboots, upload window with countdown pops up • Re-enable wireless card and connect to wireless network • ExamSoft will upload when countdown reaches 0 • Check confirmation via email or clicking “Exam History” in SofTest Boston University Slideshow Title Goes Here
