  1. Architecture and commissioning of the TCV distributed feedback plasma control system J.I.Paley, B.P.Duval, S.Coda, J-M.Moret, F.Felici and the TCV Team The tokamak control problem has evolved from the control of the plasma magnetic equilibrium to MHD instability control and plasma profile control. My poster will describe the TCV control system upgrade, developed to investigate such control algorithms EcolePolytechniqueFédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Centre de Recherches en Physique des Plasmas, Association Euratom-Confédération Suisse, CH-1015 Lausanne, Switzerland

  2. Architecture and commissioning of the TCV distributed feedback plasma control systemJ.I.Paley • Upgrading our linear, PID coil current controller • Limited in the number of inputs/outputs • Unable to use the TCV ECRH system in feedback • Unable to add further diagnostic signals • Wanted to include the full TCV actuator set including • Coil currents • Gas valves • ECRH systems • Diagnostic systems • Using real time signals from many more diagnostics • Soft x-ray • Diamagnetic • Photodiodes • And more • A large expansion in the number of inputs and outputs was required • The new controller uses acquisition modules linked to PCs in a modular real time network. • Auto code generation (Simulink) Some of the TCV actuators

  3. Architecture and commissioning of the TCV distributed feedback plasma control systemJ.I.Paley • Analogue IO: 384 inputs, 144 outputs • Control rates 10 – 100 kHz. • Several successful MHD instability and profile control experiments already carried out. • Including full control of the TCV plasma discharge…. • Come to my poster to learn more!
