  6. You are a Contributor! • Add/Edit Page Content • Add images • Link to resources (documents) • Create new pages • Submit for approval and publication(workflow)

  7. Resource Libraries • Document Library (PDF’s, DOC’s, XLS’s) • Image Library • Sites • Recycle Bin

  9. Exercises • Log on to your PC using your own user ID and password • Open a Browser window • Go to: http://meckweb/teams/charmeck/ET • Click on “Training Site”

  10. Login to the system • Did you see a login screen? • Write DSMECK\(yourusername) • Enter your password • You will have to repeat this process every time you edit the site. (We do too!)

  11. Run ActiveX • Is there a yellow bar at the top of your browser? • If so, click on it and install the Active X component…without it, you won’t be able to edit

  13. Editing Pages • Site Actions button Edit page • Edit text on an Existing Page • Add links, graphics or documents • Preview your changes • Check spelling • Submit for Approval • Create a new page

  14. THE PAGE IS NOW “CHECKED OUT” TO YOU

  15. Tasks • Insert a heading • WISYWIG Toolbar Overview • Insert text into Description 1 field • Proper formatting of text • Create links • Link to a page – (in your sub-site + others) • Link to a document

  17. Tasks Continued • Insert an image • Create bulleted/numbered list • Use the undo feature • Discard the checkout

  18. Before the page goes live, it must be “Checked In” And “Submitted for Approval”

  19. Save, Save & Stop Editing, Check -in • Save = Your work is saved and you remain in edit mode • Save and Stop Editing = Your work is saved and you return to view mode • Check in = Your work is saved and the page is checked in so others can see what you’ve done

  20. Create a New Page

  21. Page Title & Layout • After you type the title, you have to click off of the title..(anywhere else in the page) so that the URL is created • Select a Layout • Click Create • The new page is now checked out to me

  22. Delete a Page • Deleting a page sends the page to the Recycle Bin • To restore a page, go to the Recycle Bin

  23. Versioning • The edits on your page are kept track in the “Version History”

  24. Student Lead Tasks • Insert an image • Create a link to a page • In your site • In someone else’s site • Create a link to a document • Correctly insert some text from a web page • Create a bulleted list

  25. Support is Available • Online Resources • Your webmaster is there to help • “Web Staff” page (viewable after your account is verified) • Intranet hosted training documents • Email Clint.Patterson@MecklenburgCountyNC.gov for the link
